The Spinning Wheel Week offers events and activities for the whole family. E.g. spinning wheel demonstrations, spinning show, concerts, dance course and a country market with a chance to meet farm animals and buy Finnish wool yarn.

The spinning wheel exhibition by Sauli Rajala (Koskitie 3) is open Mon-Wed noon-8 pm, Thu-Fri noon-4 pm and Sat 1-4 pm. There is an opportunity to try spinning at the exhibition.

Kiikka ice cream kiosk is open daily.
Fishing competition for youngsters under 18 years of age.
Spinning wheel gathering 

Monday 6.6. at 6 p.m.
Kiikka’s Torvisoittokunta (local brass band) performing in the backyard of Kiikka parish house (Länsitie 3). In case of bad weather they will play indoors. Café by the local scouts.

Tuesday 7.6.
A summer café at the Old Fire Station (Kiikanojantie), pastries, pancakes and a soup kitchen. Tour of the old fire station and firetrucks.

Wednesday 8.6. at 6 p.m.
Kiikan Riento (a local sports club) organizes children’s track and field competitions at Kiikka sports field (Vehkatie 3). After the competition, from around 7.30 pm, there will be boot throwing and other playful contests for everyone to participate in. Pancake fryers on spot.

 Thursday 9.6.
Jokisivu village association’s summer café and a mobile sauna in Lauttaranta (Sarkiantie 23) at 5 pm. Opportunity to try out kayaks under the guidance of Timo Raunio.

Spinning workshop in co-operation with Sastamala academy in Kannari from 5 pm to 8 pm. Directed by Sanna Rahko. Sauli Rajala’s spinning wheels on site, but you can also bring your own.

Friday 10.6. RURAL MARKET in the courtyard (Länsitie 1) from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Announcement of Kiikka’s spinner of the year.
Spinning exhibition by Hanna Leivo and Sanna Rahko. Chance to try spinning with Sauli Rajala’s spinning wheels.
Students of Äetsä’s School will hold an art exhibition at Kannari (Meijerin ahde 1)
Open doors by Kiikka village association, carpet exhibition and café (Meijerin ahde 1)
Pancakes by Kiikka’s pensioners in the yard of Kannari (Meijerin ahde 1)
The Kiikka hunting club offers elk meat soup for the first 300 visitors.
Jaakko Karjula draws portraits.
Local products for sale.
There are also farm animals at the market to meet.

The Krapi farm shop (Ulvintie 61) is open.

 Saturday 11.6. Open villages day 13-16
Open doors and carpet exhibition at Kiikka village association from 1 pm to 4 pm
Spinning exhibition (Koskitie 3) open from 1 pm to 4 pm
Sarkia Museum is open from 11 am to 3 pm
Kiikka Library is open from 1 pm to 4 pm
Äetsä school students’ art exhibition at Kannari from 1 pm to 4 pm
The exhibition is open at the Lainamakasiini (Makasiinintie 1)
Anniina Koivuniemi from TanssinTahti, known from Dancing with the stars, holds a dance lesson for youngsters at Kiikka Nuorisotalo (Törmätie 8)
Mimi and Kuku will perform at the Sarkia stage at 16.00
In the evening, the Duo Kovaralli takes the stage

Glimpses of Sarkia – an exploration to the poet’s life 2022 – open rehearsals of the play on the Sarkia stage (Kiikkapääntie 48)

The program will be defined during the spring of 2022.
